This award recipient recognizes the value of individuals and finds ways to show every individual that they matter.

Award Recipients 2025

Curtis Child- Curtis Child has made a profound impact on survivors of sexual assault by providing free medication management services to those who would otherwise be unable to access necessary care. Since the fall of 2023, he has helped over 20 survivors, many through multiple sessions, offering medication that has stabilized emotions, eased the chaos of leaving abusive situations, and allowed survivors to focus on their healing and goals. His dedication has directly improved the effectiveness of CAPSA’s services, ensuring that survivors can engage in therapy and make meaningful progress in their recovery.
Recognizing the critical gap in medication access for survivors, Curtis has worked tirelessly to bridge this divide. His willingness to offer his expertise at no cost has changed lives, with CAPSA staff repeatedly witnessing the dramatic impact of his care. His commitment goes beyond routine appointments—he once arranged an emergency virtual session from an airport between flights to ensure a survivor could receive critical medication. Even when clients miss appointments or need urgent adjustments, he remains patient and persistent, embodying CAPSA’s “You Matter” philosophy. For his selfless dedication and compassionate care, Curtis is highly deserving of this recognition.
Brittney Lundgren- Brittney Lundgren has made a lasting impact on survivors of sexual assault in Rich County by creating safe spaces for students and ensuring they have access to crucial support. As a counselor at Rich Middle School, she is a trusted advocate who does whatever it takes to connect students with the help they need. Brittney has played a key role in bridging gaps by collaborating with CAPSA to bring presentations to Rich High School and Rich Middle School. She is also an active member of the Rich County Coalition, working to expand awareness and resources in the community. Through initiatives like the “Lunch Bunch” group at North Rich Elementary, she continues to find ways to provide meaningful support during the school day.
Brittney is dedicated to bringing more resources to Rich County, continuously seeking partnerships with organizations willing to offer assistance to students affected by sexual assault. She is engaged in both intervention and prevention efforts, whether by organizing guest speakers or personally leading educational sessions. Her commitment extends beyond academics—she is a steadfast source of encouragement and advocacy for students navigating difficult experiences. For her unwavering dedication to student well-being and her efforts to ensure survivors have access to critical resources, Brittney is highly deserving of the Bridge of Hope Award.
Kyle VanAmen- Corporal VanAmen has earned the trust of many survivors at CAPSA through his dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to justice. He ensures survivors are informed about their cases, taking the time to approach difficult conversations with empathy and care. His willingness to go above and beyond in his investigations has made a lasting impact, helping survivors feel seen, heard, and supported. He is a role model within law enforcement and the community, consistently responding promptly to survivors and providing reassurance during challenging times.
As an active member of the Sexual Assault Response Team coalition, Corporal VanAmen works tirelessly to bridge gaps in survivor support. He recognizes the difficulties survivors face and ensures they have advocates present during interviews, fostering a sense of safety and trust. His consistent check-ins and compassionate approach strengthen relationships between law enforcement and survivors, reinforcing confidence in the justice system. Despite a demanding caseload, he makes every survivor feel valued and heard, even sharing his work cell phone when needed to provide accessibility and support. For his dedication to survivor-centered justice, Corporal VanAmen is highly deserving of recognition during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
