CAPSA has partnered with the Wasatch Group and Dell Loy Hansen for more than 20 years. This partnership has included a senior executive from the Wasatch Group serving on CAPSA’s board, ongoing sponsorship and direct financial support in all phases of CAPSA’s housing programs.

Dell Loy Hansen has directly donated more than $1.5 million to CAPSA housing programs over the years and provided priceless advice and access to resources.

CAPSA Transitional Housing Program

CAPSA’s Transitional Housing Program, which started in 2005, is a two-year program which includes housing subsidies coupled with advocacy and educational programming. The program focuses on developing independence by reducing housing expenses and assisting clients as they work toward a life asset, such as a down payment on a home or continued education.

CAPSA supports families with rent subsidies throughout the community and, with the support of Dell Loy Hansen, will owns and manages 21 units.

Independence Place

With Dell Loy Hansen’s support, CAPSA built a nine-home neighborhood, which was completed in 2015. Dell Loy raised the final $600,000 and committed his construction company to build the final seven homes.

Independence Place is the first and only neighborhood in Utah owned and operated by a domestic violence nonprofit.

Reserving Homes for CAPSA

Announced at opening ceremony of Independence Way on May 7, 2021.

Wasatch Property and Dell Loy Hansen are reserving six apartments for CAPSA clients fleeing abuse. These apartments will provide transitional housing for families with no or low income at the time of application.

This will extend CAPSA exclusive properties to 27.

The Fourplex

WHEN CAPSA NEEDED IT MOST

The Dell Loy Hansen Family Foundation purchased a fourplex for CAPSA’s transitional housing program in early 2020. The property was in need of major repairs, so Dell Loy encouraged the RSL Foundation to donate the funds to completely renovate these homes. They were scheduled to be completed in late April.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, CAPSA needed more emergency shelter space to accommodate the social distancing precautions and increased demand for shelter. In response to the crisis concerns, Dell Loy worked with the contractors on this project to finalize and open these units  almost a month early.

During this crisis, CAPSA utilized these units for a combination of emergency shelter and transitional housing.
